Pastor Ben stood among us not just as a leader, but as a light—steady, unwavering, and deeply compassionate. Even in the face of illness, he carried himself with strength and grace, never allowing pain to overshadow his purpose. He had a rare gift: the ability to see into the lives of others, to speak hope where there was fear, and to guide with wisdom that felt both divine and deeply human. Today, our hearts are heavy. We mourn not only the loss of a pastor, but of a father figure, a counselor, and a faithful servant who gave so much of himself to uplift others. Wherever he stood, he stood tall—anchored in faith, grounded in truth, and driven by love. Though we lost him from our sight, it has not taken his impact, his teachings, or the countless lives he touched. His voice echoes in our memories, his prayers linger in our hearts, and his legacy lives on in this church he so dearly loved. We pray that his precious soul finds eternal rest and peace. May God, in His infinite mercy, grant comfort and strength to his family, his loved ones, and every member of this church who feels this loss so deeply. Pastor Ben may be gone from this world, but he will never be forgotten. His life was a testimony—and his legacy will continue to guide us forward

Pastor Ben Oyekunle was a man whose life quietly reflected the heart of service. He was kind-hearted, gentle in spirit, and consistently willing to help anyone in need. His presence brought comfort, and his words carried sincerity and warmth that made people feel seen and valued. He did not need recognition to do good—his actions spoke for him. Whether offering guidance, support, or simply a listening ear, Pastor Ben gave of himself freely. His kindness was not occasional; it was who he was. Many were touched by his humility, patience, and genuine care for others. Pastor Ben lived a life that modeled compassion and faith in action. He reminded us that true greatness is found in serving others and loving without condition. Though he is no longer with us, the impact of his goodness remains in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered for a life well lived and a spirit that gave so much. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

TRIBUTE TO A MAN OF BIG HEART Today and always I honour a man who wore many hats—a Husband, a Father, an Uncle, a brother, a friend—but most importantly, a dedicated Soldier of Christ. To many, he was Pastor Ben- a voice of guidance and a pillar of faith. To me, my family and my siblings, he was a Father and Great Uncle, the man whose life was the greatest sermon he ever preached. No wonder Proverbs 10:7 says The memory of the righteous is a blessing. Uncle Ben or Daddy Yomi as we fondly call him was a blessing and a legacy of Love to us as a family man. As a pastor, he looked after his "flock," but as a Father and an uncle, he looked after us his Nephews ensuring an impact in every single one of us. He was there for the milestones and the quiet struggles of all of us. Uncle Ben lived a life that mirrored the words of Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Well while our hearts are heavy, we do not mourn as those without hope. We know that our dear Uncle Ben has simply moved from the labour of the vineyard to a place of Rest in the bossom of the Master. He has simply traded his earthly mantle for a Heavenly Crown. Rest well, my dear Uncle. Thank you for showing us how to live an impactful life. Sleep on dearest Uncle till we meet again on the Resurrection Morning. --- Richard Adesola OYEKUNLE and family Abuja, Nigeria

There are people who leave a mark not through grand gestures, but through the quiet, steady way they showed up, with laughter at the right moment, with wisdom offered without lecture, with a love that never needed to announce itself. My uncle was that kind of person. To the world, he may have been one man. To me, he was a whole season, warm, familiar, and irreplaceable. He took me in as his "Bonus Son", always cared for me as one of his own, and even when I got married, he took my wife as his own daughter. Thank you, daddy, for leaving us with words to live by. We will forever miss you, and continue to make good use of the mountain of life advice you have left behind. Wish I could hear your voice one more time, but I guess now I can always go back and listen to your voicemails on my phone filled with prayers and well wishes. We love you, daddy, but we know God loves you even more, continue to REST in the bosom of our Lord Jesus.

TRIBUTE TO THE MOST CARING BROTHER-IN-LAW I KNOW! Some people come into our lives by blood, others by marriage. I got to know you by marriage; you transferred the love you have for my husband to me, and you treated me always like your younger sister. The news of your change of address came to me as a rude shock. Everything went blank, the future looks gloomy and blurry. I was just imagining what the situation will be with my husband because I know how deep the bond has been between the two of you over the years. Not a day goes by without you being missed. I thought it might get easier as time went by, but it does not. I do not know how to come to terms with reality, but I know that you, for sure, were the best brother-in-law one could ask for in so many ways. You had a unique ability to make each person feel seen and valued, to listen with an open heart, and to offer advice that was both practical and deeply empathetic. Your counsel was often sought, and always cherished, for it came from a place of genuine care and a deep understanding of the human spirit. You were the calm in family storms, the laugh at every gathering and the quiet strength upon whose shoulder we all lean. My children and I are very grateful for your love, care and mentorship. Thank you for loving my family so completely, taking us as your own and showing us what a good man looks like in daily, ordinary ways. Thank you for all you did. Pastor Ben as you are fondly called, there is no how your memory can fade from our hearts, you will be remembered everyday by those of us whose lives you have touched in ways too numerous to count. I am however persuaded with the fact that you made it to the right hand of your maker owing to the fact that, you died as a valiant soldier of Christ. You are cherished, you are missed, and you are forever in our hearts. Rest on Daddy!

Daddy's death came to me as a rude shock as I still spoke with him a few days before and on the call in his usual fashion, he was concerned and providing guidance on my goals. Even though I never met him, he consistently showed up in the ways that mattered and I am grateful to have known and enjoyed that level of care. May his soul rest in peace and may God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

His story

A life remembered.

A prince from Ejigbo

Ben Adebisi Oyekunle was born on May 1, 1952 in Ejigbo, Osun State, Nigeria — a prince of Ika-Orangun, where his father, Oba Abraham Iwaloye Oyekunle, reigned as the traditional ruler. A proud Yoruba man, Ben completed his schooling in Ghana, always top of his class, before making his life in the United States.

Education and career

In 1972 Ben secured a scholarship to MIT, graduating with distinctions in Electrical Engineering and Management. He went on to earn an MS in Computer Software Engineering from Columbia University. Ben built an illustrious career across financial services, telecommunications, and technology consulting. In the latter years of his career, he turned his focus to education — completing a Master's in Teaching and teaching math in Worcester Public Schools. He retired in 2023 to focus on his family and faith.

Faith, family, and the things he loved

Alongside his wife, Pastor Bukola T. Oyekunle, Ben co-founded Cross of Light Ministry in Worcester in 2005 and was ordained as a Pastor in 2010. He founded the Bethel Bible Institute, educating the community on the Word of God. He loved the Celtics, tennis, Arsenal, Jeopardy, and 60 Minutes. His taste in music ran wide — from gospel to Kenny Rogers, Bob Marley, and Herbie Hancock.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, his children Remi, Yomi, Funmi, Ronke, and Deji, his grandchildren Reina and Micah, and a wide community who will miss him deeply. A warrior who triumphed over many odds, Ben ultimately passed in peace — a gift, his family believes, from God.
